A man hacked his wife to death over the dowry they will receive for the wedding of their daughter the other day in Tampakan, South Cotabato.
The victim who sustained deep cut wounds in her body was identified as Lilibeth Dayem, 33, member of B’laan tribe and resident of Bgy. Lampitak, Tampakan.
The suspect who voluntarily surrendered to local authorities was identified as Rudy Dayem, 38, also a resident in the area.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. inside the house of the victim.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect barged inside the house of the victim and confronted her regarding her alleged relationship with another man.
It was learned that the victim and the suspect were already separated and this time they communicated with each other because their daughter will get married.
The former couple allegedly engaged in a heated argument over the dowry they will receive from their daughter’s future husband.
Reports said the suspect wants half of the dowry but the victim refused, which prompted him to hack the victim to death.
Authorities are now conducting a follow-up investigation of the incident.
