Shonola Smith a 22 year old pretty Nigerian model alongside her sister Alicia and 22-year-old friend Donness Bissessar are already facing the consequences emanating from the recent London riot.
She was arrested with her sister Alicia and their 22-year-old friend Donness Bissessar when police stormed the building on Monday night.
Shonola Smith wept as she was jailed for six months for looting an Argos store in Croydon.
The Model's sister Alicia Smith was arrested whiles carrying ten packs of chewing gum that she had looted from a nearby Kwik Stop convenience store on the same day. She admitted theft.
All three ladies had no previous convictions records.
They broke down in tears as they were led to the cells after receiving the same sentence after pleading guilty at Croydon magistrates’ court to entering the store with intent to steal.
According to the District Judge Robert Hunter said: ‘The tragedy is that you are all of previous good character, each of you well educated.
'However, I can’t ignore the context in which these offences were committed. You have played your part in a wider act where devastation was caused to businesses and local residents.
'In my view, although I’m retaining jurisdiction, the matter is so serious that only a custodial sentence will suffice. That, I hope, will serve as a deterrent to others.'
Magistrates in some British courts have been working for 30 hours straight to hear the cases of people charged with violence and looting in connection with the recent rioting across the United Kingdom, where not fewer than 2,275 people have been arrested till date in connection with the unrest that also claimed five lives.
Of the 2,275 people apprehended, around 1,000 have been formally charged for arson.
